Last week I was asked by the owner of my company here in Florida if I would be willing to go to Oklahoma to wire a church on an indian reservation.It`s only a small 1,200 sq. ft church on a reservation so there will be no actual inspections.I still want to be in compliance with local NEC addendums.Does any of you out there know of any issues I need to know of.It will be a 200 amp overhead service on a wooden building so 2 ground rods and a standard NM installation.I have never wired in Oklahoma.Just trying to get some local input :D

NEC doesn't require 2 rods. Only 25 ohms or less for ground. 2 rods are local requirements in an attempt to ensure the 25 ohms or less. stick to the NEC and you should be fine or you can get a tutorial at a website hosted by a user of this forum at electric ed see the string posted under newbie at exam prep.

I cant remember the reference for 100 limit but it was in my IBM check 334.10 and 334.12 and see if its there.

OK follows 1999 NEC requirements. There are no Indian reservations in OK. Just property owned by individual Indians and Tribes which are exempt from inspections. Note they do not recieve any fire or police protection from local jurisdiction, only tibal organazations.

Allen i am bit confused as to why they would need to go as far as Tampa to find an electrician.With the extra cost for your travel , motel ,meals for a building so small why could they not find local contractors ? If your lucky maybe they will let you stay on the reservation.Indians do make some great food .Be carefull they do have some strange customs,carefull whats in that pipe :D ;) could be a fun job.

Jim the owner of my company is an avid church goer and that`s where this came from.He is supplying all materials and asked if I would go there to wire it.Heck they are paying all expences,Airfare,lodging,food and my salary why not go.Kind of a paid vacation so to speak.A week to wire 1,200 sq. ft. by the way the plan is to wire it and trim at the same time drywall afterwards.Apparently there will be no inspections since on indian land.As far as I was told it`s on a reservation I am not familar with the particular tribe but I`ll let all know how it turns out after I return July 10th ;)

Be sure to check with the serving utility before installing the service, they may have special requirements that you are not accustomed to, like bypass metering,specific meter bases,outside main disconnects, conduit risers, etc, etc. I am nowhere near OK so I do not have any knowledge of their requirements, however you want to do the job only once.
Is the 4/0 al acceptable for 200 amp non dwelling service?

Rick from what I have been told is that I am going to wire it, they will hook up the service and I`ll trim as if a remodel.There are no inspections make a call get service energized and well all is good to go.Just wanted to know if in Oklahoma they have addendums that I am not aware of.Even though no inspections I as an electrician want to ensure all codes are met.I take pride in what I do !
