Re: NM in Carlon flex

Don,I appreciate you standing your ground on the wet location issue, that is your opinion and I respect it.I'm just saying if an inspector around here failed me on this type of installation with the reasoning that the inside of nonmetallic liquid tite flex conduit was a wet location,He'd have his hands full.

jap2525,

For another opinion look in the 2002 NEC Handbook (NFPA) at the commentary following Article 100 definition; Location, Wet

It says:
It is intended that the inside of a raceway in a wet location or a raceway installed under ground be considered a wet location. Therefore, any conductors contained therein would be required to be suitable for wet locations.
I've heard a UL representative confirm this opinion too.

How about NM run from inside a house to an A/C disconnect mounted on the outside of the house? Would not this also be a wet loacation and should be a UF cable?

Re: NM in Carlon flex

Al,

The same question could be raised about NM cable connected to outside Fixtures. I've never heard of that being an issue though.
