Go for it War....if you want to get a steak dinner out of him, let him "win" the "first bet"...then double-or-nothing for the steak ~ the "real" bet ;)

Dennis you posted not outside. That is not always the case NM can`t be used in conduit under ground .Like in a slab so it is not allowed there.

IMO, and also around here it cannot be installed in carflex to an A/c unit. Once it leaves the house structure many consider it outside and must have a wet location label on it. Since NM does not have any markings on its conductors or jacket we must assume it is not rated for outdoor use.

I didn't say I agree with it but that is how I understand it.

edited-- we had a thread on this awile ago.

If you piped PVC around the outside of a house would you run THHN or TW/THHWN (something with a W in it). Outside is wet location whether it is in conduit or not. NM is not rated for wet location.

If the slab is on grade you can. Below grade, nope.

1. If four 12-2 Type NM cables measuring 0.48 in. by 0.20 in. in cross section are run in a raceway along a wall 70 ft between. two pull boxes, what size raceway must be installed? The cross-sectional area of the cable is 0.075 [in.sup.2].

a. 1-in.
b. 1 1/4-in.
c. 1 1/2-in.
d. 2-in

The above question and a variation or two are answered in the link....today's NEC may be slightly different, but the same principles are followed.
