Non fused disc. does this need 110-26 ?

the relief/interpretation in 100.26 " is likely to require examination, adjustment, servicing, or maintenance while energized" Likely being the key word in the sentence -- which also grey the meaning, as said before do you need clearances for a single pole, dbl throw single throw, single pole dbl throw switch? no ---- you can troubleshoot most all systems with an ohm meter if you choose We can agree to disagree but we also install per local code interpretations

Or I can play hardball and require clearance for those snap switches.

That is hardball hope you know how to throw a big curve --

I find a reasonable person will have a reasonable interpretation -- no need to prove anything due to hurt feelings;) can't we all just get along

I always try to give clearance for a disconnect but at times we install the disconnect and the hvac guys set the unit in front of the disconnect.:slaphead: So now we wait until the unit is there. As Mike stated NC does not worry about a non fused disconnect at an a/c unit

As Mike stated the unit can be disconnected at the panel via an overcurrent protective device. Testing for voltage is not difficult to do in most situations. Non fused disconnect can be defective but if you have power at the breaker and not inside the unit then you will need to turn the breaker off to change the disconnect. Pulling the non fused pull out is easily done even with power, IMO

Again this is subjective and if I had to inspect it then it would depend on how hard it would be to get to it. Sitting on the ground behind the unit may be a red tag in my book. :D

(A) Working Space. Working space for equipment operating
at 1000 volts, nominal, or less to ground and likely to require
examination, adjustment, servicing, or maintenance while
energized shall comply with the dimensions of 110.26(A)(1),
(A)(2), (A)(3), and (A)(4) or as required or permitted elsewhere
in this Code.protective device

I am totally open to being reasonable.

I will start, never would I actually impose 110.26 for a GD switch, ridiculous.

You make a reasonable effort to put the disco in a decent spot and I have no intention of measuring distance. If it looks good and has decent access. I am good.
