How would NEC requirements for supporting Romex apply to this particular situation?
A friend of mine is building a new log home and while the process is taking very long for him, he's decided to finish off the basement and plans to live in it until construction is complete. I was over there today and noticed that he has two runs of #10 AWG that are running through bored holes in the ceiling joists but then this portion of the room transitions into another room where, for whatever reason, he just stapled these runs onto the bottom of the joists. The entire basement is unfinished at this time and I don't know what the other room ( where he has the cables tacked to the bottom of the joists ) will be used for.
I know that NEC 334.15(C) applies to "unfinished" basements, but how will the code apply to a finished portion that transitions to an unfinished portion?
