Are they low voltage? If not, yes. single pole? 3-way?

Mag low voltage requires MALV-600-__ if a standard gloss color is desired, MSCLV-600-__ for satin.

Elec. low voltage requires MAELV-600-__ if a standard gloss color is desired, MSCELV-600-__ for satin.

I will make the big assumption that the fixture has an intergral electronic transformer - so I will say no.... you would need an ELV dimmer. In this case an MAELV-600.

Electrinic transformers are not the same as incandesant in terms of how they are dimmed by Lutron.

The one you mention is an incandesant dimmer, and may result in failure of the dimmer or the transformer before the warrantee is up.....

I probably should not suggest it, but MLV 'can' work for electronic transformer, and often with few problems in a pinch. But incandesant on ELV or MLV will eventually let the smoke out, as will ELV on MLV. And even though there are some ELV transformers that say they can be dimmed with anything, I have not found it to really the case. Just my opinion......

This is what I think I'm looking for.

Here is a photo of the Transformer for this particular fixture. How could I find out if this is Magnetic or Electronic.

I would think it's Electronic.

That is an electronic Low voltage transformer. I would call the manufacturer or read the info on the fixture. I have read on some that a magnetic LV dimmer would work on some of the Electronic transformers. The price difference is considerable if that is a factor.

Thanks Dennis. There is no information with the fixture. This photo is the only data I could find.

YW. If you know the manufacturer than you could call them but I bet it is one of those no name brands.

I just checked the contact us icon at the Hampton bay site and it says to call your local Home Depot--- Yeah I bet they will help a lot in this situation. :roll:
