Have a hallway where the business owner wants an occupancy sensor installed at the primary entrance to the hallway. The other end of hallway (other side of 3-way) would still have a normal (toggle) switch.

I haven't dealt with occ sensors in 3-way applications. I'm assuming they make an occ sensor for 3-way switching? Do I have to put occ sensors at both locations or can I leave the 3-way switch at the other end of hall?

Thanks!

Is the hallway small enough an occupancy sensor at one end will be triggered by activity at the other end?

Doesn't need to, as the 3w switch will still work.
does if you have a door to a room not near either end and you don't want to search for the far switch when you enter a dark hallway or wander in the dark toward the occupancy sensor until it detects you.:p

The hallway is in the basement of the business.

Typical path of user is to come down the stairs which stops at a medium sized room, then enter hall at other end of room. The first 3-way is at this location.

The typical employee or vendor is usually carrying a box of inventory that goes through the hall to a store room at the other end of hall (where other 3-way switch is).

At this time they leave the lights on all the time because it's hard to flip the switch when you enter the hall carrying a box.

The business owner would like an occ sensor at the main entrance to hall where people are usually carrying stuff. He doesn't care about an occ sensor ar the other end, that switch isn't the primary switching position.

Thanks for info! I'll stop by supply house and get a 3-way occ sensor

worked at a McDonalds in Tampa back in early eighties where the basement had lights that operated off sensors in all areas there including the freezer... because when you go to get foods you then have your hands full and boss wanted all the profit he could get..
Probably cost him a lot more for all those sensors but it made getting around the storage areas very easy...

He would have had a sensor operating the light near the stairs, and one near the door at the end of the hall, plus ones in each room as well..
