Occupancy sensor in Electrical Room?

That strikes me as an overwhelmingly bad idea, but I can't really note anything in the IBC that would prevent that. If I saw that on a print, I might propose a local override switch near the door on the way into the room to keep the light on.

That would pretty much defeat the purpose wouldn't it?

If that is the only means of illumnination, then no.

Nice! Thanks.

In electrical equipment rooms, the illumination
shall not be controlled by automatic means only.

This is one area where the NEC and the IECC might be fighting each other.

International Energy Conservation Code 2006- Section 505.2.2.2- Automatic lighting shutoff-exceptions -"The following shall not require an automatic control device: Exception #3. Spaces where an automatic shutoff would endanger occupant safety or security."

In my opinion, electrical rooms fall under this exception.
