OCPD location for Condensing units

Hi

I have two 480V condensing units for a retail location that will be powered via a wireway and have a disconnect at the unit on the roof. My question is this, what are the code requirements for OCPD installation location coming out of the wireway? Can I install a fused disconnect at the unit only or do I have to have a OCPD device inside my space going up to the Condensing unit. If so , what does the NEC say about where I can install this OCPD?

If I have all the info only a disconnecting means is required per NEC 440.14 (within sight see def. per Article 100) Fused or HACR breaker check Manuf label.

What is feeding the wireway or do you mean bus duct and where is it located? If you are talking about a fairly common setup of a landlord main feeding a wireway in the tenant space and providing fused disconnects to feed the 480 volt loads instead of putting in a panel, then the answer is yes, you should put the OCPD in the tenant space unless you could meet the tap rules required. See 230.72(C) also if tenant does not have access to main in Landlord electrical room (most likely not).
