Are you sure? I just looked at your post record and I didn't see any deleted posts...? :-?

Your first two posts (and any others made within an hour or so of them) are invisible until a moderator approves them, to eliminate spam and other garbage. After that, now you should see your posts instantly.

In fact, I even left one duplicate post not deleted so that you'd be shuffled out of the moderation system quicker.

Can you post my "post record" here? I feel that I am not really cool because I don't have an avatar. Maybe I'll get one soon so I can be better represented and respected.

Haha, the recent developments are amusing and are making me giggle, if not laugh, out loud.

Anybody have a link that would give multiple resources to adopt an avatar?

As you wish. Be it on your own head, if this leads to an identity theft! ;)

I looked into your profile page. It says you have elected to allow avatars, but that you have not yet selected and uploaded one. So it?s up to you to provide one, if you wish to be thusly distinguished. ;)

For my avatar, I have been using my own photographs. I have changed it from time to time, and will continue to do so.

Here is one source, taken at random from the results of a Google search:

Hey, that search leads nowhere!

Thanks Charlie! You're the best. Now let me go figure out this "internet" thing.

It leads me to ten pages of your post history. I wonder if this is one of those "Moderator Only" features. :-?

OT: Photographs and Avatars

By the way, I just changed avatars again. How do you like my new one?

I named that photograph, "Window Treatment." Here is a larger view:

Here is the same exhibit (From the London Musuem of Natural History), but this photograph was taken from below. The window you see behind the exhibit in the first image is just out of view, to the right, in the second image.

If you want to use your own photograph as an avatar, here is one way to get it ready:

  1. Open the image in Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
  2. Click on "Edit Pictures" at the top of the page.
  3. Click on Resize, under "Change Picture Size," to the right of the page.
  4. Use the "Percentage of Original Width x Height," to the right side of the page, to get the largest dimension under 80 pixels. It won't let you reduce further than down to 10%. So you might have to reduce in two steps.
  5. At the top of the page, select "File," then "Save As," and give the image a new name.
  6. Finally, close the Picture Manager, without saving the original image. This allows you to keep the original image in its original condition, and still gives you a reduced size that you can use as an avatar.

I don't think that's the case.

Jaylectricity, click on your name in any of your posts and in the drop down window click on "find all posts by jaylectricity"

Yeah, I understand that...I was just talking about clicking that link about searching my posts.

My new problem is that I'm trying to upload a pic for my avatar...but after countless attempts to resize the pic down to 80 X 80 pixels, this forum is claiming that my "upload has failed"

Never mind, it looks like the picture went through.

That is Kelly Barons...she used to field foul balls for the Red Sox a couple years ago. She is so cute, don't you think?

Take a look at the avatar in the post above. Is that the one you meant?

You first have to download the avatar to your own computer. You do that by right-clicking the image, and selecting "save as." Next you need to verify that it is within the Forum limits of 80x80 pixels. If it is larger (and the wolf image was slightly too large), then you resize it using the process I described earlier. Finally, you enter your own profile page, select "edit avatar," hit the Browse button, locate the file that you saved earlier, and upload it to the Forum.

Thanks haskins and Mods, I have figured something out today. BTW Jay, that is my Dodge Challenger.

Tom:grin:

Thanks Charlie for the procedure!! I never knew I even had Microsoft's Picture manager on my computer!!!!

So there it is..
