Without going into detail, I became a bit more security conscious for my office help. The office is in a small community and there are days no one is there but her. If we are all lucky she may not need to even talk to us on the phone. Means we're busy and haven't screwed up an invoice or time sheet. A camera or two just to let people know they are being recorded may be helpful, but then again it just may record the scene and not immediately help anything. Curious.

Nice to read about the audio recording. That was a thought as well.

Burg system with wireless and/or hardwired silent panic (monitored)

If she's firearm adverse, Mace.

You could cut in a door strike so she has to buzz in visitors. While you're at it card reader or a numeric keypad controller.

Oh and a shop dog, one that is not overfed.

I'd ask the office gal what she thinks and feels comfortable with.
It's not like there commin over to your place because you have a wad of cash lying around.

Another Secuirty tip if they are gun shy. keep Cans of Wasp spray around. if you get a good brand it will have a longer reach than Pepper spray and Mace ( 30-50ft ) and its burns the eyes just as bad and is harder to treat.

Only problem is that using a pesticide in violation of its usage instructions is a federal offense. :)

Don't sweat the small stuff... there is a Latin law maxim / theory of law called "the law of necessity" - the law of necessity is demonstrated among other places in every states self defense statutes. The law of necessity authorizes whatever act is necessary to sustain life.... so as soon as she has a fear for her life she can do anything she wants.... every policeman is trained to know the "I feared for my life" excuse when shooting somebody.... even if the only weapon they had was a rotten stick. There is another law maxim that says "the law of necessity laughs at statutes" - so you can see that no statute can prevent a person from saving either their own life or another life.
I am not a lawyer and you should not consider this legal advice.... its just information obtained from a book called "latin for Lawyers with 1000 legal maxims".

Wasp Spray...well it is for a pest with a little stinger...she will appreciate the suggestion:D

Wasp spray for wasps, people spray for people. The right tool for the right job (assuming the premium tool is not desired.)

Can I move this to campfire? Seems kind of peripheral to the trade.
