At the semanar I took a few months back, Mike Holt sounded "pro AFCI" to me. He also speculated that this would continue to expand, as well as the GFCI requirements.

IF AFCIs worked as advertised, with no problems such as vacuums, I wouldn't really have a problem with them. I just don't care to explain to HOs why the vacuum cleaner has to be operated a certain way, so as to not trip the breaker in their 7-figure brand new house.

Very strange, I have never had one problem with a AFCI, I kinda wish I would so I could be on the same band wagon as everyone else... :D

That's probably because you aren't using the combo ones yet....just ask Scott about those. ;)

Vacuums seem to be my bugbear...

I also have been very careful about downstream neutral/ground connections and interconnecting neutrals from different circuits - well before the AFCIs. I don't consider these causes as "nusance" - just bad wireing. Actually, this is an AFCI positive, IMO.

Yes, you very well could be correct sir!

Wow..."Sir." I'm moving up in the world. :D

I'm pretty sure CT has ammended the requirement for combo AFCI's, which is probably why you aren't seeing or using them yet.
