Old house troubleshooting problems

I doubt that a flow switch will be of a size to handle 25A so there is probably going to be a solid state relay or triac to supply power to those heating elements. And probably more complicated electronic circuits to control that relay.

Good point

I'll bet that the installation instructions for that insta hot require a dedicated circuit and bigger than 20A so the problem is solved.

Any other trouble shooting or experimenting to solve the cause of the problem should not be charged to the customer.

I agree with all of that

Almost every day we hear of another strange problem caused by LEDs and an otherwise normal circuit. Maybe it's time for us all to take a step back and recommend not installing LED lighting in any form until the manufacturers take care of the problems they cause.

now, that's pretty extreme. just 'cause it doesn't work
is no reason to stop using it.

besides, the energy codes on the left coast have largely
made LED's the kooaid that gets drunk here. T8 installs
i'd guess are about 5% of the stuff i certify, if that.

incandescent illumination is relegated to display and ornamental
lighting. i think, after the first of the year A 19 lamps are a
misdemeanor.

That is what I was getting at, if dry contacts - there shouldn't be any interference in the controls from harmonics, if solid state controls - the possibilities of interference are more open.

I do agree putting the insta hot on it's own circuit like it is supposed to be will likely make the problem go away, some just might be curious as to why this happens anyway.
