I’m cleaning out any sheds & selling what Zi can.
I’m on the fence about offering a partial roll of 10-2. It sat in partial sunlight a long while & is about half faded, plus usual dirt & dust that accumulate.

I wouldn’t hesitate to use this on my own house or for some jobs where it wouldn’t be seen by the customer. I wouldn’t bring it to an average job where it may be seen coming off the truck.

How many of you would consider such wire for your jobs? Should I offer it for sale? Scrap yards are still closed so I don’t have that option right now.

use it on your own house if you feel good about it, but if you wouldn’t take it to a job or have to hide it from a customer, scrap it

Does copper need a “best by” date

If the insulation is dry and brittle, strip it a use as #10 ground

Seriously, I have used old stock and never gave it a second thought. Had some old HCFC a while back that wasn't green, threw the inspector for a loop

I just heard that one of our scrapyards is reopening tomorrow. Now I have the scrap option. I’ll scrap the other stuff too if I get no buyers. I have ads here & on Craigslist.

Got lucky a few weeks ago. I put some CAT 5 on Craigslist & sold it next day.

If it's in a decent size roll. The scrap yard will resale it to be used as normal wire. When I sale scrap at the junk yard in C. NC . I always ask if they have any scrap rolls. . A lot of times they do. It's cheaper then the supply house...

I’ve seen that at one dealer here. He resells decent scrap wire & metals of all sorts. I’ve bought a few pieces of angle much cheaper than stores.

Is it NM or NM-B? I want nothing to do without the -B suffix anymore as I don't want to start with a 60C for bundling/derate purposes.

This is not rated sunlight resistant so I would never use it. Have to cover your butt with life time liability working against you with this wire. Not sure if you can use the older style NM cable verses the newest NMB cable that has a higher temperature rating on the insulated conductors. Was told years ago at a code class the old type was breaking down in hot areas like attics.
