What about the spray foam trick I learned about on here? I've never tried it, and if mad bars aren't legal, I'm sure this isn't! ;-)

I don't see why you could not use a plastic bow with MC cable... Just use a bonding locknut and bond the outer jacket to the EGC. They even used to make plastic boxes with with metal internal components for this purpose.

NOTE: this is not my normal M.O. But I do work for a designer who uses the craziest luminaires, which require creative, yet code compliant, mounting and connection.
 
UL lists them as "Outlet and Flush Device Supports" (QCRV)

Now if we want to talk abut something lets talk about using drywall as a structural element. :grin:

I think we will find that the drywall manufacturers prohibit using drywall to support equipment.

UL is not going to call them madison bars, IMO "Box supports" would cover things from 'Mad Bars' to Caddy H2-3s, to Caddy 512 HDs etc. etc.
