so i am wondering if this is going to fly as it, the bathroom outlet is not on its own circuit, but if i call the whole shed a bathroom, then it might? there is no closet in this 'shed' (which my stupid owner is renting out seperately once the bathroom is working, or so he thinks).

i'm not all that worried about it since he was told by the City to move his 'shed' closer to the house to get it farther away from the alley and he moved it two feet from the house. and the meter is guess where....in between the two on the back of the house. yes, NOT EVEN two feet from the 'shed'. cant wait for the city to come back and see this mess.

he isn't responding to paying me for re-hooking back up the 'shed', which i did, under the same still-open permit i pulled to wire it in the first place. can't wait to hear him crying when he has to move it yet again. or....tear it down completely.

If the bathroom is in a place that meets the NEC definition of "dwelling unit" you are SOL. If not, you are OK.

When you say, "closet", do you mean water closet (toilet) or storage/clothes closet? If there is no toilet, then the room doesn't fit the "sanitation" part of the definition of a dwelling unit. And Your customer might try to argue that a separate building, either with a complete bathroom (toilet, sink, tub/shower) or some partial version, does not constitute part of a dwelling unit...especially if the main building has complete "sanitation" facilities.

It it is more common in warmer climates to have homes with separate buildings for living, sleeping, cooking and bathing. And the old boarding house or "cold water flat" apartments had a common bathroom off a hallway, and might have separate common kitchen. These are all forms of dwelling units, regardless of the location of each component not being within either the same building, or within the same apartment.

He he might need to grease palms to get this to fly.

it probably wont be able to keep this bathroom because i saw his 'helper' running a two inch drain pipe over to this 'shed'. here a room has to have a closet to be a bedroom, but you're right, could be anything else and still be a dwelling, as he has people sleeping in it and renting it out now to his helper. however, the city told him to move it so they will be back. they will see the meter a foot from it and also the sewage drain pipe only 2" and red flag him and since they have made him move it once, probably make him demolish it this time. at least that is my hope. i checked my permit and they finalized it after the first inspection, which surprised the hell out of me....they usually let it just fall off the books, as they don't reinspect outbuildings or even houses they told me!!!!!! at least as long as the breakers with afci protection are installed at rough in!!!!! only found this out after 10 years in business!!

i moved and reconnected the feeder w/o pulling a new permit. i hope this doesnt come back to byte me in the asssss. this builder/customer has no NO CONCEPT of building anything. he sheetrocked his last 'apt' before the wiring was in ... i ran all the wiring in EMT!

my ONLY concern is that he owes me $800 for the last day i worked there and he's avoiding me.

So this guy is renting out a porta-potty for an apartment? I thought the "tiny house" craze was over.

Slumlords did tiny houses before the term tiny house was even coined, and as long as there are dollars to be made in cheap rentals they'll be doing it long after we're all dust.

This is really all that matters. "Where's my money?" No reasons, no excuses. Where is my money?

And don't let him pull the, "I just need you to..." before he pays what he already owes. Pay me, then we'll talk. Then ignore *his* calls.
