The NEC is a copyrighted publication, and it is not free. But if you are looking for the least expensive way to get a copy, you could try an on-line shopping site. I'm not endorsing any site in particular, but I will say that I bought my 2002 version (hard copy) via eBay.Originally posted by ideaman89:Is there an Free Online version of the 2002 code Book in an HTML or PDF format?
You don't have to use the NEC. its a voluntary standard. There is nothing stopping you from writing the JWEC, setting up 19 code panels, proposals, comments and then publishing it.Originally posted by jimwalker:

So how does a non profit outfit get hurt if it is aquired for free ? I am sorry but i don't subscribe to them not for profit companies. No profit just 200 grand a year for the pressident 125 for vice president, yea right no profit if they pay it all out .They only print it with the idea that 99% require it.It would cost less than $1 per viewer if on a web page.It is high time this gets fixed and i hope i just caused 1,000 to go down load it for free.Any law should be free to read. This should never been a private buisness.
