Doing a small cabin no real room in side to put the panel, any thing wrong with a outdoor panle for the whole house no panel inside.

Re: Out door panel

it's not against Code. As to any thing being wrong with it, you would need to ask the owner when he's outside in slippers in a 3 ft. snow drift, to reset a breaker. :)

Re: Out door panel

Just trying to put together options for the HO. I would put it on the porch. the other option is to look at the panel in the LR or bed room. I realy dont like the bed option. also out side walls are log no flush mount.

Do they get 3' snow drifts way down south in N. Carolina?

Re: Out door panel

My daughter bought a house with the panels outside last year. So far it hasn't been a problem, since she has had no need to open them.

However, she has started wondering if maybe she should put a padlock on the panel hasp to keep people from turning off her power.

Any comments on the pros and cons, both from a code and hazard point of view? I understand her desire to lock it, but I'm not a fan of looking for a key if you have a sudden need to turn off a breaker or the main.
