I've been told by our purchasing agent that until further notice we will not be buying any die-cast fittings, steel fittings are now cheaper.

He has not had one complaint form the feild since he started this a couple of weeks ago.

I like it. :D

And if I could just get our purchasing agent to agree to buy steel setscrew for everything, I'd be happier than a gopher in soft dirt.

steel has always been better as far as installation, durability, etc..but why are they cheaper now?

I had been informed about 2 months ago about some zinc shortage. We bought several cases of all kinds of die cast fittings, lb's, etc. We purchased at the price before it went up. We also bought 2 semi loads of wire when 12/2 NM was $44 a roll. If a rep tells me things are going to double I take a look at it then decide if we should purchase in bulk. Myself I always have liked the steel but for price reasons we always used die cast.
