Outdoor Low Voltage conduit run

Somebody really needs to learn how to bend conduit. And put straps on straight.

Man you guys are tough! I bend conduit just fine but I didn't have my bender or any long lengths of EMT so as I said, I used what I had which was a short section of EMT and a 90 elbow. Maybe you can afford to keep buying materials but I can't. I prefer to use up what I have. Not sure how often you work on stucco walls but it is very difficult to get precise holes drilled but yes, I wish I got the strap a bit more straight. Customer was very happy with the end result, that's what matters.

Don't take it too hard.

No normal person pulling under that canopy will ever even notice that conduit run if they're not electricians.

Electricians on the other hand are not normal and notice everything about installs. That's how they gage their own craftsmanship.

You didn't just install that run of conduit for yourself. You installed it representing a trade that care about how we're all represented.

What Jap said. Especially with exposed conduit you want to be able to stand back and say that's a work of art! Doesn't matter that the customer won't know any better. You want the next electrician who comes by to think wow, that guy did a great job. Not "it looks like he used whatever was on his truck".

Many if not most electricians will not notice or care if a little run like that was done perfectly, however they will notice if it wasn't done the way they would have done it, or if a strap was sloppy.

I can say that the installation the original poster did was neater than 95% of The Limited energy or voice / data / video installations that I see.

I've been doing electrical work for close to a decade and in all that time I think I've bent less than a hundred feet of EMT.

And that's where the difference is.
Yes, true electricians will notice and care.

I on the other hand have been in the trade for over 3 decades and have bent thousands of feet of pipe of all different makes and sizes.
I've also had engineers in plants stop the voice and date guys from installing conduit in their plants and have me do it for them.

The OP may just be starting out, or may not have installed a lot of conduit runs, we don't know, and myself was trying to be polite.

We didn't post many pics of our work in our day and still don't, but, it seems to be the craze now days to stop and take pics of things and post them.
I could post some pics of some pipe runs we've installed over the years that would probably blow your mind on how professional it looked but I probably never will.

With that being said, when you post a picture, people are going to look at it and comment. Some good, some not so good.
Some ideas of a neat install is all relative to how much you've actually been around to witness.

On the not so polite side, I can definitely say if I installed this run, regardless of how short, there would be no SS fittings, no offset nipple, no factory 1/2" EMT 90, no SS couplings, my straps would all be installed the same direction, the box wouldn't be pvc, the straps would be more evenly spaced from the 90 and the box, and there would be a box offset into the box and the LB regardless of it was only 3/8 of an inch.

No offense intended.

No offense taken. I was trying to look at the positive side of the original posters work compared to what I have seen. As you mentioned it could have been better, with a lot less Factory pieces used if the EMT had been bent and used as one piece.

I always appreciate pictures of great electrical work. And I am in the camp of posting pictures, especially to describe problems, where one picture or a 30 second video could more accurately show the problem than even 1000 words would.

Regarding the straightness of that clamp, I too have had the drill bit kick a little bit from where the whole was intended to be drilled in hard surfaces like stucco and concrete, resulting in the plastic insert getting a little offset and subsequently the clamp gets cocked a bit.

Having done hotel maintenance for several years, I also know that no guests have ever left a review like as follows:

"The hotel staff was knowledgeable and courteous, the rooms were clean and spacious, the location was great and the prices or unbeatable, however I will not recommend this to anyone else and give a one-star rating because the EMT going to security camera wasn't installed perfectly"

Obviously I haven't been a guest there.

Wasn't there somebody here who, every time they went on vacation made it a point to notice the electrical work in the hotels he was in?

So all those reviews we fill out go to the maintenance man???

No wonder we never see any improvements.

the reviews you fill out usually go to a low end sales type guy whose job is to placate angry customers without actually getting anything done. these type of people last about 2 months because they're constantly having to lie to the guest.

I took as much pride in doing maintenance as I do electrical, and if I had control over fixing the customer complaints, believe me they would be fixed. few things were more irritating to me than reading online reviews about broken stuff that the front desk or housekeeping never let us know about, or management never would budget to fix

I'm with ya.
