It's been known to happen ...the "props" not being the good stuff for game day, but rather misc. material fashioned in rudimentary game playing tools.
Ha....been guilty of that more than once.

Who said the required volume is 23.5 inches? According to my calculation, 25.75 inches is required.
2008 NEC. exam. preparation book, pg. #134. Q. What is the minium size square outlet box req'd. for one 14/3 nm. cable that terminates on a 3 way switch, and one 12/2 nm cable that terminates on a receptical? The box has internally installed cable clamps. total volume required is 23.5 ins.
My question is, Why the 4 x 2 1/8 box, (30.3 cu. in. ) and not the 4 11/16 box at 25.5 cu. ins.?
Thanks

Did you include a ground wire?
The (s) on the end of clamp causes me to believe there is more than one. My question was where did the 23.5 come from. Was that misinformation just thrown in with the question to leed you to slaughter? If not; why didn't the question just say what min square box is required for 23.5 cu.inches?
here is my math, maybe I am wrong:
3 ccc 14# 3*2=6
1 device on 14# 2*2=4
2 ccc 12# 2*2.25=4.5
1 device on 12# 2*2.25=4.5
clamp fill= 2.25
grounding fill= 2.25
total=23.5
how did you do the calculation?
Not correcting any math, just a matter of point:
Box fill does not have any bearing on or from CCC's.
CCC is applicable to derating ~ not fill.
Terminology....we're a little anal about it hereThank you for pointing that out. I appreciate it.
