It is common sense that the ground connection faces towards the ground. Otherwise it would be called a sky connection

Its not called a side connector or a sky connector its a ground connector.

Ronald: I think you lefty?s might be onto something here. If that four-plex has breakaway tabs, you could wire up a special assembly, labeling each receptacle: Dedicated circuit; General lighting circuit; AFCI protected; Non-AFCI protected. Such a device along with a plug-equipped smoke detector might go along way to satisfying that controversy.
