Stickboy, what is name and brand of that countertop receptacle. I have never seen such a thing but it looks like a beautiful upsell! Are customers really happy with those?

I assume those take the place of required countertop receptacles?

only if you place them every 4' and you plug them into a SA circuit with GFI protection... :)

IMO these pop ups can not take the place of the required kitchen counter receptacles.

If I recall they are cord and plug connected, rated 15 amps.

IMO they are just a form of extensions cords.

Good point... and yes they are cord and plug connected...

You bring up a good point. Unforntunately, I see no need to ever install them if they can't take the place of anything.

So much for the upsell!;)

Bob - I had one of these "Suggested" by an inspector to cover the CT outlet on a window sill/counter top. After looking really darned hard found one rated at 20A - and it was a worthless nearly $200 POS! (DO NOT SPEC ONE UNLESS YOU HAVE ONE IN HAND!) Otherwise it is an extention cord in my mind, and does not fit the code unless hard wired. And very few models are available for that option.

Back on the OP: I had a thread on another forum called "Bad ideas by Designers" (I think?) some time ago after seeing a cude drawing in "Fine Home Building".
