Hello everyone,

I am trying to get a question answered, In a company breakroom with a drop ceiling is it code to place an outlet (15 amp duplex) above the tiles mounted to the wall. This is for power to a new flat monitor that is mounting to a concrete wall and the customer would like the outlet hidden. If some one know sthe Article please let me know. I am having a brain fart today! Thanks

There is no reason you can't put a receptacle there. But there is a reason you can't run a power cord to that receptacle, so it makes no sense to put the receptacle there. 400.8(2) says you can't run a flexible cord (i.e., TV's power cord) above a suspended ceiling.

To keep your customer happy, show them 400.8(2), then relocate the receptacle back below the drop ceiling. Maybe they can build an enclosure for the flat panel with the receptacle inside of the enclosure.

You can install a receptacle above the ceiling, you just can plug anything with a flexible cord into it.
