I was working with another crew at work and there head guy told me that when you have a switched receptacle ( outside for land scaping) that one side has to be constant hot. Is this true? And where could I find it in the NEC?
It's not in the NEC. It might be his preference, or print specs, or a customer request. In any case, if he's the boss... he's right.monkey_man_100 said:I was working with another crew at work and there head guy told me that when you have a switched receptacle ( outside for land scaping) that one side has to be constant hot. Well, he didn't say it was code, did he? He just said "it has to..." Don't rule out company standards. Things like color codes and such certain materials for certain situations are company standards. It may be a company standard to do half hots when you have outdoor switched recs. Perhaps they've been screwed enough times needing a constand hot source at the landscape recs that they do half hots from now on? You never know. Tread lightly, is my advice. Ask questions and poke around a little first.monkey_man_100 said:thanks, I guess I'll see if I have a job tommorow when I tell him he is wrong.
