I just saw a commercial for this stuff. I didn't see any electric work or wall receptacles in the commercial. The guy did have a table, chair and a lamp though.

Some Building codes require a minimun of two inches of seperation on unrlated services.

basement

basement

the EC mounts a single gang mud box attached onto the front surface of the metal stud, Nm down the stud into the box. the finished wall is 2.5" thick so it butts right against the box which makes it flush with the face of the box. Its a very expensive way to finish a basement but from soup to nuts its completed with in less than 2 weeks from start to finish.

I saw one job. Fiberglass old work box drilled out the back and rawled directly to the concrete wall. One hole tie wraps rawled to the wall holding the romex. There is usually a specification for the number of cans in the drop ceiling. It is a very expensive basement but they are selling them like mad. Personally, I don't like the looks and I didn't even like the pictures in their photogallery. Just my opinion though.

Their claim to fame is the wall system doesn't support mold growth, it allows moisture to pass thru so that it doesn't get trapped behind the wall system, and it is easily removed for access to the original walls. Don't know of anyone who provides materials with similar performance.

Material/Labor is $80-100/sq foot, ballpark. You could build a small house for that kind of rate. They don't sell just the materials.

I happen to like the looks, but not at that price. Hopefully their patent runs out soon, or someone else gets into the market and competition drives their pricing down.
