code or not code,accepted or not as common practice.o.k. building is block construction with the block as finished product.you install a "mud box" at device location and run pvc conduit up inside the block and 90 it out when above suspended ceiling height.when it's time to pipe the branch circuits you cut the pvc 90 just about flush to the wall,k.o. the back of a 4"sq. and mount the box to the wall. all branch circuits will have an equip. grounding conductor and all boxes will have grounding pigtails installed. let's hear it!! thanks.

I can't comment on the code compliance issue, but I'm wondering why you wouldn't use EMT instead.

Seems to me it would be less expensive and easier to work with.
For me, it's bad enough to have to use PVC where it is required. All that messing with cleaner, solvent, and heat for bending! :(

Perhaps it is a wet location?

I'm wondering why you wouldn't extend the PVC to a ceiling mounted box or exit the block at a 45* and extend to a wall mounted box. Either method give you a chance to terminate the PVC properly.

When do you suggest that a fitting be installed? if at the time of instalation ,the mason will never make it right-in too far out too far.after the block is set you would have to chip out all around the pipe to a depth of 1-1.5 inches does that help!

Ok Benaround here is what you can do. Get a ramset and shoot a 12" or so piece of 2" x 4" to the block wall directly above your stub out. Glue on your terminal adaptor to the factory end of the 90. Now you have an extra 1-1/2" away from the wall so you mount the back of the box to the lumber and you do not have to shorten the sweep at all.
