It seems like some people are timid about pricing jobs without specifications. We do this all the time. Some basic buildings we square foot. Some we unit cost.
You want me to design the job, sure, I can do that. I put in what I want to use, I put in what price I want. I take all responsibility for electrical. This is usually on most small jobs of course. The larger jobs usually have engineers. We as contractors call this " Design Build ". It is where some of us make really good clients.
Ok, now for those projects that GC's want " really fast ", I give them a really fast price. It is always in favor of me making more money that a slow price. I pad these pretty good.
We have designed jobs from as small as &1,000 to over $250,000.
The trick to estimating jobs is get through but really quick at it. DO NOT leave anything out or guess at anything blindly. Change orders we usually are fair but either make money or don't do them.
