Paint booth wiring

I know that there are specific codes about wiring paint booths, but have any of you ever delt with inspectors that consider the lighting on the outside of the booth (ie: sealed off from the inside) as hazardous wiring.

from "sealed off" I assume it's an enclosed paint booth not and open face. If that were the case, the only question I would have would be if the fixtures were with 3' of a door or opening.
