Does any one know the min and max height for a residential inside service panel. There is mention in the code of max of 6.5 feet for mobile home outside disconnect and a min of 2 ft above ground. I usually go by this on all panel and switch boxes but never knew for sure.

In a residential (excluding a mobile home) setting there is no minimum, and as far as the maximum, the top of the panel can be touching the ceiling as long as the highest breaker in it is no more than 6'7" see 240.24 and 404.8.

I thought sure in the code I rememberd a min height of 2 ft above floor but I cant find that any more. What about outside sub panel , people want them low as possible in the yard so not be noticed but I insist on 18 " to bottom of box.

There is no minimum height... But I also recommend 18" for snow related issues where I live...
