Panel swap

Have 3 existing panels being replaced in same exact location with 3 new panels . Panels are same size and they are asking for the feeders to be disconnected and reconnected. My questions…
1. Would you just remove the conduit back to the coupling?
2. Should be no need to splice and have to extend wires? Assuming main breaker in same location and dims of new panel are same?

All branch circuits are being demoed.

If the wires are long enough, why remove conduit back to the last coupling?

If you can fit a pull box or a gutter it helps when stuffing the wires back into the conduit going down to the panel

If the existing cabinets are the same physical size as the proposed new ones, I would be looking at installing the new panelboard (guts) in the existing cabinet.

Leave the existing connector with insulated bushing attached to panel enclosure. Pull up and off. Reverse for installation of new.

Yes maybe just swapping the interiors might be an option but I'm sure they'll say "we paid for new panel".

Explain the cost savings.

So loosen the connector and pull the conduit out?

Remove all branch circuits from the enclosure.
Remove the interior.
Lift the enclosure from the conduit that feeds it.

Reverse the procedure.

Or, swap the interiors if the existing enclosure is in good condition.

Be careful here, because older panels often didn't have artical 312 clearances for wire bending.

The killer comes when your old panels have conduits entering from more than one side.
Do you know the arrangement of the existing panels as far as conduit entries ??

Is this panel recessed in sheetrock or exposed?
