Good Afternoon, I had an unique question brought to me recently that I did not know the answer to. Are circuit numbers required to be labeled next to each circuit breaker per NEC requirements? I am talking about a number label next to each circuit breaker e.i....1,3,5,7,9 down the left side and 2,4,6,8,10 down the right side ? I understand NEC article 408.4(a) which requires a written panel directory but I am not sure if this applies to the circuit numbering as well. I recently had a general contractor ask me about this and required it on his jobsite. I remember when ITE/Siemens used to give you the little plastic numbers that I used to have to twist out and pop in the tiny square hole on the panelboard cover. I did not know if this was a NEC requirement or NEMA requirement? Thanks in advance!
