Re: Panelboard heigtht

There is not a specific min or max height for the panelboard iteself, but the maximum height of the breaker is limited as required in Section 404.8(A) of the NEC 2002. That height is 6'7" off the floor to the center of the breker handle.

As a side note, there is min installation height for mobile homes of 2'.

Re: Panelboard heigtht

stamped set of prints is first thing most want to see.Now if this is a simple 200 amp 2000 sq ft home i think he is just wasting his time.We all know they have select judification on what codes they push and who they push them on.They do push some for items they overlook for others.Just stay on there good side.

Re: Panelboard heigtht

vinnyrpb, Sometimes if its a back to back, then the panelboard height can be dictated by the meter box arrangement. The POCO has their say in that matter.

No matter what the POCO rules are we still can not violate 404.8(A).

Re: Panelboard heigtht

Bryan, Article 440.8A states:
All switches and circuit breakers used as switches shall be located...
6'7"...
I don't think the breakers in a basic dwelling service are "used as switches" or am I wrong!? I thought that term meant when you use the breakers to turn off and on lights for example instead of using a wall switch device or any other means.
I dont think Article 440 (SWITCHES) pertains to a basic dwelling circuit breaker which is usually only switched On once... (If everything is wired correctly!)
