Hello,

I'm looking to replace PAR38 10spots with something more efficient. The new HIR halogen PAR38 lamps are more efficient than former halogens but still its only dropping from 100W to 70W.

Nobody is making PAR 38 CFL spots....you need a tiny light source in the center of the lamp. And I can't find an LED PAR38 10spot, just floods. I've found self ballasted metal halide PAR38 spots but they are only damp location rated. These lamps need to go into existing unhooded lamp holders.

Any ideas?

Thanks Dennis,

The issue with that lamp is 1) 30 degree spot, I need 10 2) Dry location rated 3) really bad reviews

BUT, on that Google page I did see something closer to my needs: http://www.magnalight.com/ They have wet location LED PAR38 but only with 25 degree spot angles. They may be able to custom build a 10 spot..?? I contact them.

I don't know of anyone doing a CFL or LED in that narrow of a beam. However, Phillips makes a ceramic metal that comes in a 10 degree beam spread and uses only 25 watts. I believe it's only damp location listed.

While not a lamp I highly, highly, highly recommend the Illumitex Versa outdoor luminaires. The 15 degree beam is super -tight and achieves an enviable 93% of the light in it's beam spread.
