I have two spare 4" pvc conduits the same length to a location I need a 800amp panel installed. The main breaker lugs only goes up to #500 mcm and has 3 lugs per phase. This rules out parallel #600mcm. Is it possible to parallel #300 mcm 3 times by using 8 conductors in one 4" and 4 conductors in the other 4". Would this cause any heat problems?

If the connected load is less than 800 amps you can use parallel 500's.

Read 240.4

I agree with Roger. Check you load calculations.

You would not be permitted to run a parallel installation as you laid out because each raceway needs to contain the same number of conductors. Take a look at 300.4.

The advice on 240.4 b is good advice. This is what I will do. I looked at 310.4 c also. Thanks for the help
