God you love to run at the edge. :D

But yes you may.

Check Note 1 of Table 300.5

Not something i wanted to do but had too in a few places do to drain conduits and other pipes. This was in a muck field that can not drain and i did go the 24 required for 95% of the job.Was a very bad day ,dozer had to pull me out twice.Even the dozer got stuck in a hole, still there when i left.

Sounds like you had a heck of day.

Started with 30 feet into dig and get stuck, barried ditch witch to top of tire, then chain comes off, loose 1 1/2 hours over that.I was covered in mud.Had to hose myself off just to get clean enough to go home.300 more feet tuesday and its over.Atleast snow compacts itself.

Time to train the troops!

Wasnt a troop problem. The job site is on some fill that likely came from the bottom of a lake and had been sitting there for years. The ground 3 feet down is dry.Problem is this clay like fill can not drain or compact.Add that to the amount of rain we had here in last 2 weeks.Even dozers are getting stuck. Will be a tilt wall building but might be delayed months till they can get it dried out enough to pass a compaction test. This what happens when you build on wetlands.Plus side is soon as building gets started i will be only 10 minutes from home.

1. Cover is defined as the shortest distance in millimeters (inches) measured between a point on the top surface of any direct-buried conductor, cable, conduit, or other raceway and the top surface of finished grade, concrete, or similar cover.

ok I'll bite.....trencher or hand dig????? rock or clay?????? just a few factors to consider...

Mine was muck and rock with ditch witch.Ditch fills up with water fast and caves in so gotta work fast behind the trencher.Add rain to this picture and getting stuck.

Dont forget Im just across the bridge from you jim so I know about the rain....600ft @ 24in Id say around 3 and 1 half hours if you run fast with all the rain we are having. Am i close to what you ve been doing?
nope, not anywhere near but close to what we had hoped for.Parts of it hand dig only cause of other pipes we could hit.Was rained on most of friday and after what we got today i might not even have a chance come tuesday. Its like digging in a lake.

How far have you been going? Our dig is not so bad as the compaction must be at 95%. yet when the rain starts it still makes it hard with all the mud. and try to put 4in together while in the rain.....NIGHTMARE. still I love my job

Problem is this fill will not compact at all. They tried by adding and mixing rock.It will be a tilt wall building if they can ever compact pad to even begin.Even the front in loaders and dozers are having hard time.If you walk in wrong spot you will sink a foot. This is outcome of wrong fill in a wetlands area.Hopefully i can finish tuesday, its been a thorn up my ---- for 2 weeks.Keep being called off because too wet.
