Went to look at a job where an AC guy said that he was getting shocked while touching the unit with no wires connected to it. Said he read 130 volts from the unit to the ground (the dirt). The AC is between the pole disconnect & the inside building panel. ALSO some one was going to add some lights, & told the building owner that the panel did not look right.:happysad:

Today was cold & drizzle to me (Blanco, Texas hill country). I did not did not get a reading from AC frame to ground. Went inside to look at the panel-board. The inside cover was off, just the outer cover on. I was hesitant to touch anything. :happysad:

2 cables of some sort ran underground from pole, entered 2" PVC, then into panel. Each of the main lugs was feed parallel with "3" #6's. :jawdrop: Neutrals & grounds all together. Did not see any indication of grounding at the building. Could not unlock the disconnect at the pole. I did not want to touch anything!! Will try to post pictures.

Just because an engineer has designed a job, it does not mean it is done correctly or safely.

Exactly, especially an mechanical engineer! (I have a friend who is one). The one who did this, evidently said #6 @ 50 X 3 = 150 amp service !:slaphead:
