My customer is removing part of the wall that separates the kitchen and dining room. He is putting cabinets in both rooms, and the countertop will cover both cabinets. There will be 67 inches of countertop that extends past the wall (the peninsula).
210.52.(3) At least one receptacle outlet shall be installed at each peninsular countertop space with a long dimension of 24 in. or greater and a short dimension of 12 in. or greater.
Obviously one receptacle is required, but when the peninsula is longer (like 67") is more than one receptacle required? I don't see anything in the code that specifically address this. Furthermore, Mullin's Residential Electrical Design book has an illustration with a long peninsula and only 1 receptacle. I would place the receptacle at the end within 12" from the countertop. What say you?
