Not anymore. Deep fryers and the like have quick disconnect cords that are magnetically held. Many of these acidents are now avoided. I feel appliance manufacturer's should be pushed to make safer and more protected products verses making the NEC more stringent.

The problem is the millions of older appliances that are in use, not the ones that have been bought in the last year.

The OP was in regards to a penninsula where the 6/12 and 1ft 2 ft 4 ft rule don`t apply.A penninsula requires 1 receptacle no matter what the length unless broken by a sink or fixed appliance.Stop reading something into a post that isn`t there.

No we just need to start making people pass a test to get a home owners license to operate a home safely before they are allowed to buy a home.

Rule #1 No owning a home and drinking at the same time you might spill your drink.
