A customer that wants to put down pavers on the grass beside the existing patio and put the hot tub up against the existing patio. The spa is 36" high, the patio is 12" high so this puts the top of the spa to the patio at 24". Less than the 28" required in 680.42(B)(4) to avoid perimeter surface bonding. Now the simple solution is to move the hot tub at least 30" horizontally away.

They really want it beside the patio so if i use a #8 bare conductor ring around the tub is this sufficient or will i need to somehow get a bonding wire in/under that existing slab? I appreciate any input!
