Permanent meter in the box

Any idea what codes could or would be violated by permanently installing a metering device in the box that consists of:
1. A device that snaps on the wire from every breaker
2. A wire from that device to a meter box (4 conductor all <12v with 600V insulation)
3. A meter box mounted inside or outside of the box that collects the signals from all of the branch circuit meters for analysis
4. A cat5 (insulation rated 600V) cable then leaving the box to go to other network equipment (switch/router) that is outside of the box

Is there a violation in mounting a circuit board within the box? If it is in the box would it need an enclosure to protect it? Or would the issues be more UL related with this kind of installation.

Thanks for the help...

It sounds as though you are installing tenant metering equipment, IE;e-Mon demon?! IMO the "metering box" needs to be mounted external of the enclosure but the ct's and such that "snap" around the branch circuit conductors are o.k.

Similar to the e-Mon's. The ct's would be on the individual breakers of a residence. The metering box is a 2" x 3" x 0.5" box that the ct's plug into. Then there is a network cable from the metering box out of the enclosure.

The metering device being left in the box vs outside of the box I assume is more of a NRTL issue with the box being rated for the device being installed inside of it. I can't find anything in the NEC that this would directly violate assuming the box doesn't get overcrowded and the wiring for the ct's is voltage rated for the box.

Thanks for the feedback...
