Funny you should mention this, the inspector is only available to set up inspections for an hour every morning,if you call his office 1-minute after his 1-HR window you cant get him nor set up an inspection...

We are like that here too. You call before 4:00 pm for a next day inspection, we do not do same day inspections (as a rule). If you want to set up a time you must call the inspector between 7:00-8:00 AM. The inspectors are to be out of the office at 8 sharp. Nothing like a contractor calling in at 11:00 wondering what time an inspector is coming by.

Plus corrections! In Columbus, when you pull a whole building permit, they allot you so many inspections, and don't show up until you pay for extra inspections. If you fail one, you pretty much need to buy another.

While I feel that this should be the way. They tend to get away with a lot here. We will let you fail twice before we start accessing fees and then if our bosses feel different we may not. Also we get a lot of "here to here" inspections so that they can either keep the drywaller busy or whatever. I tell guys that there are only 5 places for me to sign the card, UFER, underground, rough walls and hard lids, above T-bar, and final.

And you can't remember what you looked at last week!

I don't think it's a bad system, but it would have been nice if someone mentioned they had changed they way they did things, or if someone called and told someone else we needed to buy another inspection before they would show up. Oh well, live and learn!

So you have noticed that too?

I was pretty sure that we use to only call for a rough and a final and maybe an undergrond if needed.

I also get a lot of, "why is this covered up?" "Oh, we forgot to call and the building inspector signed it off." "Did the inspector sign the card" "You know I can't remember if he did or not"

Like you said, live and learn.:D
