Re: Pets At Work

The idea of a pet on the job is crummy, but it is much better than having to listen to "jungle" music turned up way way too loud all day long. This is my one real gripe with my location. It seems that 99.9 % of the local population has hearing problems, and the music they prefer has only two chords, or worse yet, no chords and just some verbal "rap" string complete with offensive language.

Interesting how things change. Having a dog with you at work was SOP in the old days. Well at least here in SOCal. Everyone was cool with it or didn't complain because they were in the minority.
Now I only see dogs on very small jobs and it usually belongs to the super because of RHIP.

To what kind of workplaces would a person bring a pet?

I like music. Heck, I was even in a not so good band a long time ago. But after hearing machinery all day, I am glad for some quiet. It irritates me to hear a radio in the shop, or on a quiet day when things are down. How inconsiderate to make me listen to your stuff. I don't do that to you.

Usually it's some piece of crap that has all the fidelity of a wasp in a potato chip bag.

It seems to me people should be capable of spending a little time with their own thoughts... or maybe even talk to a co worker.

(those were NOT the days, no color, no cable, no computer/internet, party line telephones, no microwave ovens, no game consoles, no nothing).

Gee! Back in those days we used to outside and play. We would go back in house to listen to "The Lone Ranger" and baseball games.

Bad joke, actually. I was referring to ?being rank,? which is the state of not having had a bath in far too long a time. It has the privilege of getting you first in any line, if only because everyone else will leave the line.
