I am going to have a small meeting with the electrician around 10 this morning. We'll see what his thoughts are.

To Don and DARUSA: The facility does have different voltage systems. 480/277 and 208Y/120. And my goal is to have the original color scheme carried throughout.

I see from your profile you are likely a representative of the owner and the electrician is likely a contractor.

A little motivation may be to make what you want part of the specifications, and hold some payment if they do not install to specifications. If an inspector is involved bring the issue up with them. It is not extremely clear, but is fairly clear that the intent of NEC is to have this coding consistant throughout the facility.

If the installer is actually an employee you maybe can't withhold pay but there is more direct control because he is an employee.

What code edition covered the original installation? Was the method of identification posted at the panels?
 
Don, Kwired, et al,

I briefly spoke to the electrician, he agreed that the original phase color scheme of O-Y-B (480v 3 ph) should prevail. He is currently re-locating those offending circuits to the phase that matched the original scheme.

He was very polite and willing to correct the panel's color scheme. He got caught by surprise at the colors, he surmised that the original electrician went off the prints, identified the circuit by number and used B-O-Y for picking the colors and pulling them in, then later found the panel not to be what he expected.

We are updating the prints to reflect the actual as-built.

I am unsure of the year that the panel was installed, but I'd guess around 2000. I couldn't decipher the inspection sticker, it was smudged.
