My back ground doesn't invovle me terminating very much cat 3, 5, 5e, 6 etc. The question is, I am adding another phone location in a home and there is cat 3 existing and the new cable is cat 5e. In the old location we have a phone jack that has almost like a punch down connection, I don't own a punch down tool. It also has two cables that run into that. The new phone jack is an RCA type and has green, yellow, red and black colors on the back plate, 4 screws one wire each. Are those screws arranged in a pair set? Top/bottom, side/side? And I know I was being very basic with my description, but I want to be complete as possible. I pulled the wire already so how do I merge the new wire to the new jack and the old jack? The colors, of course, don't match and I have lost my cat 3-cat 5 conversion chart. Appreciate any in site.
Thank you
