Do you by any chance have a couch up against the wall, mabe adjacent to the phone. And, by any chance, have a closet behind that couch with a switch and a light. The switch might be in (an old gem box) ahh rather, an old work box (metal). If so, do you sit firmly in this couch...WAITING for the phone to ring???? Just a thought.

I usually take a nap and if the phone rings i might take the job, unless I have to tavel more than 10 miles.

Don't feel bad I had a couple of chemical engineers assigned to me (one was phd) during one of our "slow times", in the "good ole days".

I'd feel flattered they thought enough of you that they found work fo you.

Two weeks ago I was wondering if I needed to find a real job. This last week I got enough work to last for 3-4 months. Go figure!!

i have heard of a company in england that goes door to door doing "free visual electrical inspections" when they are quiet. if you do flat rate, you can quote the repairs while on the job, how many houses may have 1 faulty outlet or switch etc. also let them know about potential upgrades. make sure you leave a flyer or brochure while you are there.

When I have a trouble call and all I find is a tripped breaker or something silly, I offer to inspect and tighten all conections in the service and breaker panel. This justifies the mininum service call IMO in the customers mind.

Do you turn the power off to the house to check the connections in the service. Around here we cant even open the meter without the POCO being their.

My bad, my statement should have read..."service entrance" which would be the main breaker connections and branch circuit connections.

We can cut seals and do work, as the meter loop attached to a home belongs to the HO with exception of the meter itself.

We also can cut and reconnect service drop connections on weekends to rebuild a damaged service without callling PSO. Then call for inspection on monday
