Thought you would enjoy pictures I took lately before cleaning up the installations. Hopefully they make it.

The first is a violation of the 6 ckt ruls, the second is missing proper covers, the third is missing required neutral on service conductors, the forth is poor working space, and the fifth is actually still in service from the 1930's!!!

would love to see the 1930 one after it is upgraded.

We issued construction drawings last month. It's out of my hands now. I required that all existing was to be demoed. Actually, I would like to get one of the old switches.

Whats wrong with the 'wheres the neutral' picture?
Looks like 3 runs 3phases each set with 4 wires, not color coded cause it's a pull box.
No?

Love the 1930's pic, the sheet metal cover marked "J BOX" and the flash burn damage on the wall above the contactor(?) panel. (The one above the breaker and fuse boxes left of center.)

Some of the older gear and switches are still better than all the plastic, imported crap out there today.

I was thinking the same thing. If the neutral is not used, and this is not feeding from the meter to the service, then it's not required, right?

This is a "pull box", actually an old disconnect enclosure, between the utility transformer and the service disconnect. The two plastic conduits on the left only contain the phase conductors, no neutrals as shown on the drawings. The one on the right has an undersized neutral. No return path for phase to ground faults.

The "foreman" on the original job is no longer with the contractor. We sent a letter regarding these and other "issues" to the contractor. The contractor said he will be repulling these shortly.

NICE ONE How do you miss that on the install ? you would think someone would have at least checked it with a wiggy at some point and seen there was no ground. A long time ago I forgot to connect the XO to the bonding jumper on a 480 to 208 xfmer. It didn't take much to figure out I had not bonded the unit and fix it. Thankfully I was the one that figured it out and fixed it not someone else. Always double check your work.

I'm wondering about bonding that box since it's on the poco side of the service. Is it required? I'm assuming it is but not really sure? If so what happens in a fault situation? The ground melts or the service entrance conductor does : )

The one missing the neutrals.

I was not contracted for anything after construction drawings. I was at the site for another project and took a look around. There were other issues, one that will cost the contractor dear.
