Pigtail length

Had a question asked today. Is there a problem, code wise or listing, in cutting or lengthening the pig tail on a GFCI or ach fault breaker in a panel?

I think Infinity meant "without" instead of "with.

Unless the manufacturers instructions say that you cannot shorten it then you certainly can. I cut them all of the time when they're too long.

Thanks . I have looked at the three major brands Sqd, Ge, and Eaton, and installation instructions do not mention either way. makes for a neater job if that are cut to fit.

You might want to check SqD - I remember reading something about not lengthening the pigtail on their GFCI breakers. Shortening, no problem.

Definitely do not lengthen the pigtail on Surge Suppressors though. The added impedance can reduce their effectiveness.
