Every commercial job or plans I have seen have those measurements on the specs. I don't know that there is an industry standard. Plans will tell you a swich is 48" AFF, and even then you need to verify if it is bottom of box or center, not to mention the difference in your rough floor and finished floor so you can adjust.

thanks for all your help I did not think it was a code question

on other question of this topic if you could

I have 2 opinions on this

placement of interior light and extrior light switch

I have always placed the exterir light switch next to the door and the interior switch inboard

andthing on this

thanks

switch

switch

I believe the only place that NEC states where switches are to be located are for attic and crawl space lighting and on each level for stairwells....other than that it's your call. your kitchen light switch can be in bathroom, etc.
