You can consistently drive #6 screws into hardwoods without ever breaking any of them off with no pilot holes? Softer pine species construction lumber is easy, I was talking hardwoods like oak, maple, walnut, sometimes you can't hardly even drive nails into those without a pilot hole.
awww now comeon,I didnt say I didnt break one every now and then.Every home we built were custom with all of the types of lumber you listed below.
If we had to drill pilot holes for everything we installed we'd been put out of business.
I should have been more clear about clarifying that the depth or number of threads that grab verses the
width of the hole its going into,,but I cant believe I'm talking about it to begin with.....
